What to Expect When You Fly:

We hear this one a lot. Some people find it hard to believe that they can be at the controls of a $500,000 airplane without any prior training. The reason we can do this is quite simple.  All of our aircraft are equipped with dual flight controls, so your highly trained instructor pilot can easily take the controls in the unlikely event that it becomes necessary.  All of our instructors have gone through a rigorous training program and have seen every kind of unusual attitude and aggravated spin that you can imagine.  Our training puts us in situations that are far more severe than anything that can happen on a typical customer mission.  All flights are instructional flights defined under 14 CFR Part 61 of the United States Code and participants will all receive ground and airborne instruction throughout their flight.

In case you still don't believe us, during many maneuvers, you will see your instructor pilot put his hands in the air.  So yes, YOU are really flying the plane.

Absolutely!  If there is space available on our vans and shuttles, then guests are welcome.  To ensure transportation availability, we recommend you call SCA 24 hours in advance to make sure we have space available for your friends and family to accompany you. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee shuttle availability for non-flying guests.

Our flagship Sky Combat Ace Hangar in Las Vegas is truly a sight to see in its own right and serves as a tribute to our rich aviation history. The first thing that you may notice is our 120' panorama timeline that profiles every significant front line fighter aircraft since World War I. Just above the timeline, you will find six, 100 sq ft murals depicting a cloudscape of modern day fighter jets. Not only is there something for history buffs, we also have a variety of games and activities to entertain you, a pool table, Foosball, and several TV's. While you enjoy our amenities, you will see the entire hangar lit with our soft LED lighting features and enjoy the music emanation from our commercial sound system.

You may also want to consider our Spectator package, which is perfect for friends and family that want to watch the action up close, but may not want to directly participate.

In order to keep our prices as low as possible, we do not bundle videos or photos into your experience.  There are several video and photo packages to choose from and they start at $50 per person.  We show video and photo samples at check-in, so there is no need to book these services in advance.

Due to FAA rules and regulations, we cannot bring unapproved cameras on SCA flights.  Our mounts and cameras have been tested to withstand the rigors of unlimited aerobatics, but don't worry, we capture the action from several different angles.

Safety is the #1 priority at Sky Combat Ace. The Extra 330 is built of carbon fiber construction, which is 9 times stronger than steel.  It has zero prohibited maneuvers, which is a testament to its strength and engineering. All pilots are certified flight instructors and go through a rigorous training program to qualify for Sky Combat Ace.  In addition, the FAA requires all participants to wear parachutes on aerobatic flights.

Just like skydiving and other extreme activities, advanced aerobatics, air combat and low level flying comes with an inherent amount of risk that cannot be entirely eliminated without jeopardizing the inherent nature of the experience.  The pilots at Sky Combat Ace do their best to mitigate those risks, but there will always be a risk of accidents due to a variety of factors. All participants must sign a waiver and liability release prior to flying.

A deposit will be charged at the time of booking. Deposit Amounts--outside of 48 hours 25%, inside of 48 hours 100%, Gift Cards 100%, Groups (6 or more) deposit amounts will vary depending on size and location. Any remaining balance will be paid at the time of check in. Any deposit paid is not refundable. Customers must reconfirm flight reservations at least 24 hours in advance. All cancellations inside 48 hours and no shows will be charged in full. Unless otherwise stated below, SCA flights are non-refundable inside of 48 hours.

SCA is not responsible for any changes, delays or rescheduling due to unscheduled maintenance, inclement weather, the actions of independent contractors, or Acts of God. If, due to weather or unscheduled maintenance, SCA is unable to takeoff on the assigned day and the customer is unable to reschedule, then customers will receive a full refund.  Weather determination is made by the pilot in command within 1 hour of scheduled launch and based on flight minimums established by the FAA.

Pickup and drop off shuttle transfer from select hotels are complimentary and of no monetary value. SCA San Diego and SCA Minden-Tahoe do not currently offer shuttle pick up and drop off. SCA reserves the right to refuse service to anyone whom is deemed to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Fuel surcharge may apply. All other taxes and fees are included.

At Sky Combat Ace, we do everything in our power to prevent people from getting airsick.  All of our profiles use a building block approach, starting with basic maneuvers and working our way up to more advanced profiles.  At any point, we encourage our customers to communicate their comfort level and we are happy to take a break between maneuvers to give your stomach a chance to catch up.

It is a common misconception that you should fly on an empty stomach. The truth is that you should adhere to your normal habit patterns. While it may not be advisable to eat a breakfast buffet just before your flight, you should have something in your stomach, perhaps a light breakfast, such as cereal or some fruit. Though you should always stay hydrated, it is probably a good idea to stay away from alcohol before an aerobatic flight.

We also encourage customers to do as much flying as possible during the flight. The more you immerse yourself in the experience, the less likely we are to get sick. Incidentally, the most common cause of airsickness at Sky Combat Ace is due to hangovers.  We know you like to party, but try to hit the sack early the day prior to your Sky Combat Ace adventure!

If you feel that you are susceptible to motion sickness, we recommend a Dramamine tablet the night prior and another one 1 to 2 hours before your flight.

For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

We usually schedule up 4 to 6 people per two hour time slot on our regular daily schedule.

For large groups, we block off assets and pilots to allow for greater volume. Our maximum capacity per day is around 50 flying customers in the Extra 330LC. With advanced notice of at least 30 days, we can accommodate groups of up to 150 people or more, as long as some guests are willing to do Spectator rides.

We are happy to bring Sky Combat Ace to you if there is enough interest to justify the expense of putting on a road show.  We have taken our aircraft and pilots to various parts of California, Utah, Wyoming and as far away as Florida to support corporate events, charity fundraisers, incentives and some pretty big parties.

We recommend that participants have 3 hours available in their schedule to complete all of the check-in, training, pictures by the plane, the flight, etc.
