Best Thrill-Seeking Activities For Adrenaline Junkies

SHARE THIS POST:

You might be an adrenaline junkie if you are the kind of person drawn to activities that provoke thrilling sensations. Psychologists have debated whether thrill-seekers are defined as “addicts” in how chronic drug users chase a particular high.

Fortunately, extreme sports enthusiasts are not type casted into that category, as found in the DSM. Therefore, if your quest to seek out high-adrenaline activities does not interfere with your daily life, you are not technically addicted.

You are in control of your senses.

The difference is that self-destructive tendencies do not drive you. The chemical response in your brain from an adrenaline rush is closely related to the primitive fight or flight response. Its most basic form is to survive a perceived dangerous threat.

While we have evolved from primordial people in the wild, some of us still need to fill our desire for a fun-filled, energetic, heart-pounding experience that puts us safely in control. To that end, we compiled a list of 15 things to do for adrenaline junkies:

1.    Starting with an exciting aerobatic flying experience will surely bring your heart rate up and put a big smile on your face.

2.   Bungee jumping gives you the hair-raising feeling of falling in the open air to the ground with a last-minute pull up toward the sky from an elastic rope.

3.   Skydiving can be done both indoors and outdoors. Don’t close your eyes because you need to keep alert for when to pull the parachute cord, allowing you to land softly on the ground after being up at least 10,000 feet high.

4.   Zip lining is friendly to a variety of physical ability levels. The hardest part is to walk up to a high platform and put on the body harness. You don’t need upper arm strength for this ride because you glide hands-free over beautiful scenery.

5.   There are three types of adventurous rock climbing; Bouldering, Lead, and Speed. Find one that gives you that kick up the face of a rock wall. You can also test your extreme skills by climbing glaciers, ice-covered mountains, and frozen waterfalls.

6.   Fighter jet flying, like in the famous movie “Top Gun,” can be done with the help of a professionally trained fighter pilot who either takes the lead or gives you a thrilling chance to do it yourself.

7.   Try driving an exotic European race car on a racetrack. A supercar only takes 2.5 seconds to accelerate from 130 to 140 mph. It fits the need for speed.

8.   Ride one of the world’s tallest roller coasters soaring 456 feet up, spiraling around and down to the ground in less than a minute at 128 mph. Sure to leave you breathless and thrilled.

9.    Escape Rooms require team puzzle-solving to get out of a pre-designed theme locked room in a short amount of time. It can sharpen your mental abilities making you an expert in how to survive a dangerous scenario.

10.   Plunge into deep snow-white powder with Heli-Skiing. A helicopter drops you off on a high mountain in fresh snow, leaving you to ski downhill as fast as you can.

11.   Big wave surfing is a serious sports activity not made for a beginner. You must be an experienced surfer who can ride waves from 20 to 100 feet high. Only a handful of daredevils can ride the ten-story high waves.

12.   Zero Gravity gives you the experience of weightlessness an astronaut feels in space. While you won’t fly in a rocket to outer space, you will fly on a specially modified jet airplane and pull some parabolic arcs in zero gravity.

13.   Street luge is a speeding activity done lying on your back on a body skateboard and is now an Olympic sport. An American set the world record for going over 100 mph.

14.   Cliff Diving was a way for warriors to prove they were fearless to their king. They would jump off a rocky cliff into the ocean below. Eventually, this developed into an extreme sports competition that requires careful training.

15.   Wing Walking was developed in the 1920s by a plane mechanic trying to fix a biplane while up in the air. He walked out on the wings while his co-pilot kept the plane aloft. This sport became known as stunt flying, and aviation acrobatics were born to the delight of millions of spectators.
